Hello Debbie,
I would like to say I'm sorry that you have the
very painful illness of Fibromyalgia or FMS
for short. I have had it for a long time and I
have learned much. Things such as having to
come to term with the many life changes that
it brings, learning to accept your limits even
though you will try to fight against them. And
find out that you must listen to your body and
get to know it in a different way all over again.
Do what you can, accept what you can't and
still try hard to fight each day. There are different
levels and that's a good thing to know. Mild, moderate
and severe. Some can still work, go to school, have
a pretty full life. Some have severe cases like myself
and can not work anymore but, no case is the same.
FMS and CFIDS/CFS are two different illnesses.
Some doctors don't tell their patients that but, just
lump them together because they share some similar symptoms. You say you have
Athritis pain, i hope you
don't have that also. I have Osteo-arthritis or degenerative,
same thing. You need to have a Rheumatologist if you
don't.
The main difference in FMS is a lot of pain in all 4 quadrants of your body.
It much match on both sides,
neck, arms, elbows, hips, low back and knees. If
not you could have something else maybe CMP
which is Chronic Myofascial Pain something else
which doctors get confused with FMS. I have all 4
FMS/CMP/CFIDS/OA plus several other ill's but,
I try hard to smile and hang in there. :o)
I have to take breaks from the group and the computer
sometime. One place you need to join is alt.med fibro-
myalgia if you don't have CFS you won't learn all you
need to know about Fibromyalgia here. even though a
few have both Fibromyalgia is not really discussed here
and you can learn much more about it there. I've been
a member for a long time there too, both since 1997.
It is a much larger group. So it can be harder to keep
up with than here. I just pick and choose. Okay I hope
I've helped you out somewhat feel free to ask me ??'s
and i'll tell you what i know so far.
take care,
Cheryl
