In fact, YOU are the only one I ever see actually doing that stuff in
here....and since YOU clearly aren't coming clean yourself about that, then
this is obviously not your actual motivation.
You've just been caught in a lie. No wait. Scratch that.

The crime? Self Delusion.
The sentence? Well, if you were more honest, you wouldn't post anonymously
so that you could actually face the legal repercussions of your actions. The
fact that you insist on posting anonymously just shows that somewhere inside
you know how wrong (and illegal) your actions are.
But keep on telling yourself that you post anonymously for different
reasons. Self deception can be an alternative to basket weaving when it

a) it is a discussion group ABOUT AA.....this is not the same thing as BEING
AA
b) you have already stated that you are not even IN AA, so using the
Anonymous part of the title is nothing more that you hiding your crappy
motives behind something that saves people's lives every day. I find that
disgusting.
c) your purpose for being anonymous in your posting is NOT for the purpose
of protecting your sobriety (which is nonexistent anyway), but rather to
avoid the legal repercussions of your actions.
Therefore, it is my "right" to state that unless and until you stop posting
anonymously, you are as vile as anyone you attack. And yes, you are as vile
as those you project your actions onto.

And so, you're providing a public service? Did you know that with
a little creative business strategizing that you might be able
to set up a nonprofit organization for yourself? And then instead
of doing this thing part-time for fun - you'd be doing it full-time
as a righteous cause.

........I think that I'm more concerned with the state of YOUR sobriety
at the present time. If I might allowed to "pluck that beam from thine
eye," anon. May I call you anon? You claim membership in AA. And
as part of this membership, you claim the right to take refuge in the
anonymity that the program offers..... I can relate.
And am I to assume, then, that as a member, you attend meetings?
And that you work with a sponsor... And that you're in the process of
working (or have worked) the steps, yourself.... Am I to assume, anon, that you
work a prorgram of recovery which *requires* you to work with others......
Is that part of what you're doing here with Joe.....? Is this what working
with others means to you? Curious.....................

I've been working with a couple dual diagnosis members, among which, one
had visual and auditory hallucinations. After hearing what he said they
were saying, I simply said, "That's your conscience speaking. For you,
it's a bit more literal than most". He's since sought through "prayer and
medication" (prescribed) and the majority of his voices have faded. The
only thing I get to take credit for was to offer guidence when asked.
The other guy I'm sponsoring so far seems to be doing okay, and
seems to be a survivor when it comes to sobriety. Again, the only thing I
get to take credit for is to provide guidance when asked.
At this point, I'm pretty sure brad would fail to completely see the
second half of step 1 as it relates to step 2, but he would definitely be
a fun challenge, after his mental illness has beaten him into that sweet
state of reasonableness.

Yeah, that's about all we can do. It does seem to help a lot of people
through the rough parts. It helped me to be sponsored, and it helps me to
sponsor someone. One thing is certain: there's no way to tell who's going
to make it (into long-term sobriety) and who isn't.
From what I know about really serious paranoia, Brad's mental illness will
probably keep him from ever seeking treatment. It's almost as though the
disorder were protecting itself.

That's exactly what it is, and it will take some clue known only to him
that will break it. In the movie, "A beautiful mind", his first clue was
that the girl never got older. In Brad's case, he almost refuses to
believe I'm not living in Orange county, because that's where he believes
Taylor Jimenez to live. The fact of the matter is that we're 2500 miles
from each other and neither one of us lives in Orange County, and it's
easily proven, yet Brad would rather jump up and down stating otherwise.
That's his illness, which compares to a large degree to many people
who suffers from alcoholism. How many times did we come up with ideas to
support the concept that we weren't an alcoholic, and no matter how
ridiculous, believe it ourselves?

Good point. I had an experience similar to yours some years ago. A woman
contributor to another group decided that, since my name is Dan XXX, that I
was really Dan XXX Henderson, an engineer living in California, who was
'stalking her on the net.' Sound familiar? I live in Boston and am not an
engineer. She claimed I was 'shutting down her websites,' etc. (would that
I had that kind of power!)
She made one very big mistake. At the time I had a website with my picture.
She directed people to the website -- 'see the stalker Dan XXX Henderson',
etc. I had to take legal action. Let's just say she disappeared from the
web instantly and paid a very large chunk of cash to stay out of jail.
What is striking is the similarity of paranoid delusions. Terms like
'stalker,' etc. And the others who claim the martians are infiltrating
their brains, talking to them on the radio, etc.
