| Hi,
I have an alcohol addiction. I read about a study on topamax that
helped users drink less as it dampens the pleasure senses. So I bought
some. Has anyone used topamax, cos it looks a quite serious drug?

| Speaking personally, I have no experience of this drug - it must have come
out after I got sober - but I never drank for pleasure, I always drank for
oblivion. If the drug stops you getting that then I am sure that, if I was
still drinking and taking the drug, I would have given up the drug.
When I stopped drinking, it was because drink no longer did what I wanted.
If the thing that was stopping me getting that oblivion was a drug then I
have not the slightest doubt that I would have stopped the drug to once
again get what I wanted. It was only because I have no other alternative,
(drugs were not as ubiquitous as they are now), that I eventually did stop.

I have heard of this drug, but have no experience of it.
I took Campral expecting it to work, but found it no use at all really.
Sadly, there is no magic bullet for alchol dependency.
