No I am not Casanova - and I am not pimping for basketball players. We are
looking for a large hatchery that can supply 20,000 day-old chicks cheap.
This would normally be cockerels from a place that is trying to hatch
egg-layers. So if you think you have such a place in your area, let us know.
(hopefully within a 4 hour drive of us)

Very familiar - been to meetings down there - used to go to auto races at
the old airport in Montgomery - and snowmoble dealer in Wallkill - and got
my first speeding ticket in Walden when I was a kid - and, of course, the
Thruway Market.

Falconers - hawks trained to hunt along with a dog. You can see my

Not sure if you remember that pub/dining place (forgot the name, think
it was Sweeneys) on 208 in Walden.....Burnt to the ground a few years
back and is totally brand spanking new rebuilt.....Nice place.

Cops are still tough passing through Walden, even where I lived, better

Was that the place on the sharp turn ? - or I think there was another joint
by a small bridge over a brook. But it's been so long I can't remember
where I drank. I know there was a couple places we would stop coming back
from the stock-car races at the Fair Grounds. I lost my new '59 Chevy on a
turn down there also on the way back from the races. Creamed from the
passenger door all the way back - just kept right on going. <chuckle> Also
at the airport races - having a "few" drinks and trying to jump over the
hood of my (new again) '56 Chevy and landing on the hood and denting that
up. In the "good ol days".

There are a LOT of VERY BIG chicken ranches around here (north-central).
20K would be considered small time.

Thanks for the info - obviously too far for us to travel - but I'm glad you
mentioned the numbers because it looked like some people who aren't familiar
thought I was joking. We don't RAISE the chicks - just kill em and package

More than you think - for a variety of reasons - including those trained to
eliminate pigeons from airports in urban areas. Of course they can hunt for
themselves but by controlling their food intake they can be trained.

I think you are correct. In the wild they are not "vultures" - they don't
go to carcasses - but in captivity they have no trouble with pre-killed
pickins.

Aside from airports where it is an obvious safety issue, exactly WHAT
species of birds do YOU consider to be "unwanted"? ALL species of birds are
welcome at MY feeders: sparrows, pigeons, starlings, crows, magpies, blue
jays, chickadees, wax wings, grackles...... I strongly resist any human
attempts to screw around with bird populations.

I'm not sure. We have knowledge of operations from Albany, NY down to JFK
and over into PA. but I'm not familiar with my sons contacts from other
areas - or the organizational names. I know he's mentioned shipping hawk
food all the way out to the west coast. Have you tried Google ?
