Cancer, like most actual medical diseases, has biophysiological
manifest evidence of the disease. You're mistaking an absence of
"symptoms" of a disease otherwise.
If alcoholism either had such lesions or other biophysiological
detectability, THEN perhaps further comparisons with medical diseases
could be ventured. But, even your example here poses something odd:
Does the "alcoholism disease" also go into "remission" so that a person
can drink normally too?
