Tedw is beyond suggestion of a psychiatric visit, and unfortunately, has
found religion.

I'll forgive you Tedw.
I'll forgive all your sins as soon as I meet you face to face and beat
the XXXX out of you. If you want to go to heaven, you MUST meet me,
and let me beat the shit out of you for your repentance. If you do
not do this, you will go straight to hell upon death. This is not a
joke, I work for God, and you better believe in me and my powers, or
you will spend all eternity in the fires of hell. You know, you could
die today or tomorrow, so don't delay. We must meet face to face so I
can take away your sins before it's too late. There is no other way
to save your soul from damnation.

Not sure who you ascribe this so-called-required power tedw, but it would
appear to me that whoever or whatever it is , it ain't you..

Well, I dont think so. I was responding to the Barn Owls assertion that
only a Catholic Priest or Bishop could forgive us.

tedw

2006-03-29, 11:56 am

Well, for once I can agree with you. I ascribe the power to forgive sin
to Gods son, Jesus.

tedw

2006-03-29, 11:56 am

BTW, its an important point. If Jesus truly was the one sent by God to
reconcile man to God through belief in hiim, you can see how important
that belief is. Belief in Buddha,Mohammed,or a "door knob" is not going
to accomplish reconciliation.

However, Flesh and Blood must not reveal it to you, but the Father in
Heaven.

Your ardent "beliefs" would be very offensive to about half the world

Yes, he has. A man-made religion in this case.
Just how old is your church? This plain text file (it ISN'T possible
for text files to be virus infected) gives the Birth Dates of many of
the better known churches::

So? It doesnt make it any less true.

tedw

Gordie, I hate to be the one to tell you this, but the age of a Church
has nothing to do with whether what it is teaching is true.

One of the worst things about the Catholic Church (and there are a lot
of good things BTW) is the graven images you will find there in
violation of Gods commandment. And the fact the church is 2000 years
old doesnt make that any less an abomination. Stautes of the Virgin
Mary, anyone?

Wake up Barn Owl.

You know Ted, you said supportive things to me when I first came on
here, but I've tired of this religious stuff and am putting you in my
killfile. Perhaps a good tactic for others too, so there's not this
relentless stream of personal attacks.

I've also killfiled a couple of other folks who respond from the other
side of this.

I have not started one religious war. You have me confused with someone
else.

Christ founded a church and it was at least 1900 years before your
chosen denomination was made up by man.

AA has even been in existence longer than the source of your exclusive
truth.

Good thing YOU don't have the keys to heaven and hell or it would be a
lonely place for sure.

"Were entirely ready to have God remove all these defects of
character."
(A.A.'s Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions - Step 6)

"Humbly asked Him to remove our shortcomings."
(A.A.'s Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions - Step 7)

Can't find a parallel in the Christian Bible because it IS OUR JOB
to repent - NOT GOD'S! We do the repenting and He does the
forgiving of our sins - that is how it works. Nobody else can
forgive my sins - no man can, not myself and not another.
Only God can forgive sin.

IF you are Christian and are involved in 12-Steppery then I urge
you to look more closely at your chosen Recovery Program and
see what you find.
