Alcoholic Craving and the allergic response
|
|
|
| Carl Dawntreader in "A Critical Look at Disease Mythology in
America" has said it well:
The allergy suggestion is, of course, absurd;allergies are a very
specific type of physiological response that is quite well understood.
They may involve, among other things, a chemical sensitization of the
immune system by the primary challenge of some noxious agent,or
allergen, such that subsequent exposure to the offending agent provokes
an immune response. This response may include the mobilization of
certain types of white blood cells and the release of a cytotoxic agent
,called histamine, which, in turn, produces signs and symptoms of a
wide variety, but which are all physical (vs. mental) in nature, such as
topical dermatitis, watery eyes, respiratory irritation, and
anaphylactic shock. Chemical cravings do not ever constitute an
allergic response to anything.

I doubt that any of the long timers on this group will disagree with you
on this one Ted. I suppose you could keep posting about the allergy
thing for the few people that wander by.
If you're doing it to convince those of us who've been here for a long
time, I think you're flogging a dead horse.

Well Gay disagrees. Im sure Virt does too.
Anyway, I think its always good to tell the Truth. It will be here in
the archives for anyone wondering about whether they have an allergy to
Alcohol.

Teddy - you suck. Your assertions are backed up by your own quotations
at the christianrecovery website. You quote an XXXXXXX to back up your
XXXXXXX claims. What is it with you? Do you even know who YOU are?
If that's how you play, so be it. Seems there are others following
you. You are your own cult. A cult of nutbars!!!

| Instead of calling me an A****** , why dont you just post your
evidence proving alcoholics have an allergy!
But you cant can you?

You're right teddy, you suck. You nutbar.

| Virt, Gary, where are you? Why dont you post the evidence disputing me.
Or post the evidence of an allergy to alcohol in Alcoholics. You cant
can you?
I rest my case.

People (you and me included), with always think what they choose to
think. Some people firmly believe the BB is divinely inspired and
therefore infallible.
We're not going to change their minds about that, no matter what we
type.

You're sure pragmatic and logical today. Seems out of place here for
some reason. ;)

If you can't answer the allergy question, shutting up would be more
sensible than repeating your "nutbar" remark over and over and over
again.

Well, he apparently doesn't want to read what I wrote. I never said
it was an allergy or that the BB is correct. In fact, I think the BB
is outdated in many ways, though not all. As I tried to say before,
'more has been revealed.' So tedw finding something in the BB thta
isn't current is ho hum. He's very one dimensional though, so I guess
his trains of thought are very limited. Too bad, he can't read
either.
Best,

Nutbar caught on....so blame 'XXXX-you' Mark. I think the allergy
question has been answered several times ....it's not an allergy in
the true sense of the word....rather it's an aa use of the word for aa
purposes...tedw says it's a false belief...I would say the fact the bb
explains how and why it is used and admits how it's not a sound use
outside of aa and for aa purposes it has to at least earn a true false
belief award.
I don't believe 'insanity' as used by aa is close to being what would
be considered a general definition outside of aa, but it works for aa
and aa's seem to identify and understand it quite well.
Then we could bat around 'true' alcoholic or 'real' alcoholic or
'cured' / recoverying /
recovered....dry/sober..illness/disease...religious/spiritual....I
mean the gosh damn list goes on & on....one thing for sure if each
person with a drinking problem or weakness or behavior problem or
whatever would agree to hold off on the next drink until all the above
could be settled to everyones satisfaction we could all be sober for a
long time, a very long time.

LOL. Ted, you're the ONLY one who cares at all what's in the archives.
Or that bothers to post your stuff multiple times to try to skew
searches. All playing to imaginary people. Tsk, tsk...

Hey, unlike you, I've got plenty of OTHER things to do! Sheesh. But I
can understand why you're so concerned about my postings here, sure.

Why, YOU just confirmed the allergenic reaction to alcohol, in your
other posts. 'Nuff said.
