Author Benefits of a meeting

The gremlins got to me tonight - my car was blocked in by a neighbor -
eventually got out drove 10 minutes, got to an 5 way intersection and got
cut-off - and I was not a happy camper. A few minutes into the meeting and
I realized I was soothed again. Interesting meeting - the church needs the
facility next Wednesday. The minister is Native American and he started
having Thanksgiving eve services some years ago that feature his native
traditions. It has become very popular and now is usually standing room
only. So our main mover and shaker had been talking about cancelling the
meeting for a week. This is rural and the choices were slim but I had
suggested the firehouse about 2 blocks away. Our main man was concerned
about low attendance - I was concerned about the one person who might "need"
a meeting. Our HP was on my side and there WILL be a meeting next week in
the firehouse. I had people with good AA sitting on both sides of me
tonight. And the "Big Book Thumper in Training" was just the other side of
the guy on my left. No wonder I felt better quick. The topic tonight was
"staying away from the first drink" . Always good when the focus is on
basic stuff. Started on time - ended on time - and all had a chance to
share. The AA's in our community have held big Thanksgiving Dinner /
meetings for years. A "committee" sort of runs it and they solicit
donations from the groups in the area. Our guy decided to donate tonight's
basket ($18.50). I'm always a little leery when AA functions get high
finance. I lost interest in this one years ago when the expense was up
around $1200 - but I am assured that it is down under control now. I now
deliver meals to the needy for local church sponsored holiday dinners. I
was invited to speak at any or all of the local Institutions meetings but
respectively declined. Have done that many, many times before (detox,
rehab, psych center, jails & prisons) and gave up because of the 2-hatters
trying to control the meetings. Now I just visit old AA's in nursing homes.

I read through, but I must have missed it.

That seems to be the story of your life. Keep coming back.

Oh, wait, here's the gist:

"A few minutes into the meeting and
I realized I was soothed again."

The benefit of meetings is getting soothed. Good on ya, Sarge.

Frankly, a massage and a hot bath are FAR superior if I'm just looking to
be soothed.

Haha when I want to be soothed - the last thing to enter my mind is to
listen to the sickness of shiteheads in a meeting room full of Bilkos and
the likes.

Sheesh. A nice bar of chocolate or a choccy sprinkled cappucino served by
a buxom babe of brassy boobies for my delectation.

Cheers
Tommy
