(OT) XP Home OEM & Activation.....I think this is funny!

I just aquired an OEM install of XP Home & installed it to my
HP......This is a clean OEM install & not a recovery restore OEM with
all the crap & bloatware put out by the proprietary conglomerates...Upon
install I used the key that came with my HP as I incorporated it into
the install.......Now, OS up, 30 days to activate.....
Of course the straight internet validator got confused so I called MS
fer phone activation, gave the 100 freakin numbers to a robot and it
also got confused.
I got a live person on the phone and all they wanted was the first set
of numbers the phone activation screen gives you......He proceeded to
say okay I apologize I can't verify that number here is your activation
key..........That's it! Didn't even ask me for the original key pasted
to the side of the tower..........Did I miss the whole purpose or
something of this activation business?.......(LOL)

Yeah, I just built a new PC, too. They will verify your install the first
time you drive through UPDATE. No pain atall. Of course they have the data
already on your machine. If you change any (*ANY*) hardware, you will need
to call again.
BTW, you entered the key when the OS was installed. Do not misplace the
darned key.

I left a little detail out of course.......I'm good for that.
All proprietary pre-installs come with all the garbage on em already
clogging the OS.......The key on the side of the case or booklet,
wherever it is, is an actual OEM key.......If you take an OEM OS install
(this is clean with no bloat, pre-installed garbage) CD do a clean
install you can use that key provided by the prop giants......It is a
valid key to use you're just not putting the garbage back on your
machine that's all.......I have 2 valid proprietary keys but never used
em cause I blew out the OS's and just installed with my VLK key......It
sucks that you already buy a key with a prop machine & if you get rid of
their garbage cause ya had a spiritual awakening on the tremendous
benefit of a *clean* non-garbage install on the same machine you have to
go buy a full retail install.......... ;0)

I failed to mention that this OEM clean install is not a good method yet
if the machine is still under tech support warranty.........Clean
installs will usually wipe out seperate recovery partitions place by the
prop giants for easy no hassle, no thinking, tech support.
