Just make sure it's not your survivors footing the bill for the extra
hook-up time while they do the harvesting....unless of course you want
to put it to them one last time.

I am not sure how it is done in Canada, but here in the U.S., or at least in
my case, UNOS (United Network for Organ Sharing) pays the bill between the
time that the family signs the donation papers and the time of the harvest.
Then, of course, the recipient gets the bill for the harvest and the
transport back to himself.
Most organ donation centers advertise that the donation will not cost the
family one cent, Canadian or U.S. I know that is the case for my donor
because I have discussed this with his parents and sister. And their son was
a complete donor, making available all of his organs and tissues. I know
that because my harvesting surgeons had to wait until all harvesters were
present before they would open the body to remove the organs being donated.
Just a matter of policy here.

Good ....a few years ago a local couple ok'd the harvest of their 17
year old daughter....little did they know it was going to cost them
there present & future. The local papers covered it intensely and it
was interesting findings this wasn't an isolated case.

I think that is just horrid. It is supposed to be the gift of life, not the
bankruptcy of the family. I truly feel that organ donation and transplants
are the single unadulterated organized service in the U.S. I was a skeptic
at first thinking that you had to be a star or politician or sports figure
in order to ever get an actual organ, but, hey, even little ole unimportant
me got one. Of course I had to wait because of being a rare blood type and I
nearly died in the process of waiting. But there is a Higher Power (and no
I'm not Him) and he made sure I got a donor graft just in the nick of time.
I know I did not deserve it, so it was a gift of grace from my H.P. and a
cool man named Stephen from Athens, Georgia. I know the reason it took so
long is because that is the one God had planned for me and I just had to
wait until Stephen got through with it. Believe me, I would not have rushed
him in the least.
I am grateful for that and for my sobriety. My transplant depended on my
sobriety and my compliance to the transplant team's regiment. The discipline
has served me well in recovery as well.
Enjoy the rest of your day.

Liars like you make it even more difficult for deserving people to get the
organs they need. Grow up and get a life, already!

I do not know who the hell you think you are, but you do not know me and I
do not lie. I resent your accusations and I will inform you that you do not
know your XXX from someone else's hole when it comes to me. You think you
are so smart but actually you are just an arrogant idiot who has to
challenge everything someone says on this NG. I guess you think that makes
you look cool, but actually it makes you the fool. Why don't you try to turn
some of that negativity into positive energy and actually try to help
someone on here rather than just be an XXX all of the time. If need be, I
will block you. And as far as I am concerned, you do no longer exist. In
other words, you are a nobody that I will not respond to. So do all of us a
favor and just ignore my threads. That is a simple task that I would
hopefully believe you can handle.
In other words, Just Kiss It, fool. You don't know what you are talking
about. You are truly what I would call an idiot. Get over yourself. It is
not all about you! I have added you to my prayer list because someone needs
to pray for you and that evil soul of yours. Cease.

I think this was actually directed at me....so...it happened locally
and was reported in the local paper...if that makes me a liar so be
it. I said it was a few years ago and things could be different
now....still I would want to be sure personally.
Joseph don't worry like I said I think he's directing it towards me...

Don't worry about that either, Joseph.
Tom really worked hard to attain the position of number one suspect
here, he's just another bleeding deacon now.

Mr. Sharx35, It appears to me that you are a pathetic "little" man. I make
it clear to whom I am addressing my comments to. You should try the same,
or crawl in a hole. I know you are a loser since you have reduced yourself
to calling me names. You obviously have little to say that could be
construed as constructive. It just proves you don't have a leg to stand on.
I sign my posts also, you might do the same, or crawl in a hole. Oops, I
already suggested that. Sorry. You are also a pathetic representation of
recovery and the Program of Alcoholics Anonymous in my opinion, based on
your treatment of people. I am glad you were not around my home group 10
years and 10 months ago when I came into the program. I would have run to
the nearest liquor store after meeting you. I hope you don't have that
effect on newcomers that you encounter now.
This is my last response to you. I have better things to do with my life
than defend myself against someone like you.
Overheard after the meeting . . .
If you want to change who you are, change what you do."

I really am lost.
I think I get the BD part but not the other. Hell, I've already bled

Tom, (and everyone else that reads this post) I believe the man to be sick.
And he is not the only one. I am just astonished at the stuff that goes on
here. Never in my years of sobriety have I encountered such negative,
hostile and irreverent, vulgar people. It is just not what A.A. and sobriety
mean to me and the ones that I hang with. It would seem that if this is the
back stabbing, mud slinging stuff they want to engage in, then they would
start a non AA NG and call it "Watch your XXX, we are out to get you" or
something like that. But on in a recovery group site?
If Sharx35 was addressing his comments to you, he should have made that
clearer. It makes me feel sometimes that I have invaded a private little
world for guys who have no life and just sling mud and talk vulgar to keep
themselves occupied. Maybe that beats talking to or dealing with their
wives, lives or families. I really don't know. I started out this morning
and posted a quotation that I had overheard after a meeting, one that was
used in my daily Point to Ponder e-mail message. Just a little something to
think about. And look what it has turned into? There is just something
inherently wrong about that. I read comments from others that I don't agree
with and yet I just move on. I feel no compulsion to invite myself into
their conversation and call them names or call them liars. I just move on to
the next one. And yet it seems that some petty person has to jump in and
make cracks that add nothing to the exchange outside of bitterness and evil
sarcasm. I just don't know if it is worth it. You and some of the other good
guys on here keep telling me to not worry about the assholes. It is hard to
do when they won't support the conversation. But I am going to make an
extensive effort to do just that. I will try to remember that some people
may be in A.A., but they have not fully recovered. The dry drunk behavior
still exists. That is a shame, but it obviously exists.
As I said, I will try to not let it worry me. I guess I just expected
tolerance and acceptance because of the name of the newsgroup. Was that
unrealistic? I don't know. Seriously, if this is the way it will always be,
then I am in the wrong place. I was accused of being thin-skinned. Maybe I
am, but I think about the treatment I have received here so far, my
defensive attitude is warranted. I have been called everything from a liar
to a faggot by people who know nothing about me. I have been told to get a
life and to "XXXX off" by people who, last month meant nothing to me. All
because of what? They did not like the truths I told. I have no reason to
lie. I am very involved with A.A. locally and with a regional workshop that
meets twice a year outside of Atlanta. People who know me contact me weekly
for various reasons because they know me and know that I work my program as
best I can. Some even say it is a program to be admired. Yet on here, I am
just a folly for certain people's sick sense of humor? I just don't get it?
I know I am not supposed to care what others think about me, but in
actuality, I do. If they don't like me for who I am or what I do, that is
one thing. But for people who do not know me to be so blatantly rude and
obnoxious, --well, they just have no right.
We will see what tomorrow brings. Maybe peace and serenity will dominate the
day. That is one of the things the Promises of A.A. taught me to expect.

Hey Joseph,
This 'place' is a usenet group, and not a meeting. The nature of
usenet is that it's wide open. There are no moderators, and in public
forums, anyone can post just about anything. What you post is bread on
the waters - you have no control over other's responses, but you do
have control over your own reactions to what anyone else may say.
You can give it power - respond and react, or you can decide it's
just so much text on a screen - up to you.
Apparantly you have some expectation that people should behave some
particular way, respond to your posts in some fashion, or display some
ideal decorum. What's interesting is that likely, there are people
here who do just that - but you're attention and reaction seems to be
focused on those who don't.
Usenet is a great teacher of powerlessness. That ol' serenity prayer
reminds us that there are some things we can change - but they almost
all come back to ourselves, and almost never are about other people,
places or things.
You're in complete control over what you decide to read, attend to or
respond to. If a thread isn't going the direction you might have
liked, move on - try it again later.
Take it easy big guy. Don't take it all too seriously - yourself
included...

>Thanks Steve, your advice is sound and explains quite a bit. I just thought
guys in recovery acted better and I did expect more than what is here. That
is my mistake. I love your comment about "Usenet is a great teacher of
powerlessness." No truer words have ever been spoken. When I started out
here, I was looking for tid- bits to use in my daily e-mails to a subscribed
group via e-mail. I mentioned then that I did not know all of the rules and
protocols. I appreciate guys such as yourself that take the time to educate
me by your experience (strength and hope?). And thanks for bringing up the
Serenity Prayer. I needed the reminder. And I guess I need to remember Rule
62. It has a lesson for all of us.
Let me ask one question. Is "The #1 Suspect" a term or nickname for someone
on the group? It is my name on the e-mail I send out every morning at 6:00.
The groups name in my address book is "The Unusual Suspects" with me, the
originator of the message being the head suspect or #1 Suspect. It is on my
computer and comes up automatically. But I do not want to horn in on its
usage here if it belongs to someone else. Again, being new at this, I don't
know and I guess this is something I need to know. Or was that just a joke
in one of the posts?

The name is yours. Haven't seen anyone else use it. Steve gave you a
fair run down.
Another way of putting it this is a place that aa is discussed both
pro & con...but isn't aa. Some are anti-aa, some pro aa , some sober a
long time and some not even sober, some not even alcoholic, and as you
might guess some just plain bat shit goofy. The language runs from
pulpit pure to alley cat nasty....some have been here years and some
merely drop in on occasion and some come and go quicker than you can
blink an eye.
It more along the lines of the coffee shop after a meeting where the
topics include about anything life has to offer...some relate directly
to aa and some don't.
It wasn't necessarily what I expected because of the name.....still I
hung around and actually fine plenty of chuckles and even a few real
gems now and then and like face to face aa some of those I thought the
nuttiest at first have actually been informative and interesting.
I guess it comes down to what each individual decides for themselves
as far as staying or going.....whatever you decide for
yourself...thanks for adding to the mix.

Sharx35, have nothing I need. I don't need your arrogance. I don't need your
free floating anger. I don't need you. Period. I have already learned how
"not to be" from you. You are the perfect example of what I don't want. You
can ride along on your high and mighty Pegasus and think you know what is
best for everyone else all you want. It just shows me that you have control
issues. I explain where I am coming from and why I think the way I do. You
just spout your edicts. It is the difference of being a leader and a ruler.
In my 53 years I have encountered people like you -- always must have the
last word, always right. Totally clueless as to how the rest of us live.
Well thank you for your concern and offer, but as I said, what ever it is
you have, you, my good man, can keep. I have done okay in sobriety without
your influence and I am certain I will do just fine, each day, one day at a

If you aren't finding them, then I suspect you're throwing out the baby with
the bathwater, Joseph, because I see some real gems here almost every day.
OTOH, I expect participants to post however they want, not how I want them

One word of caution; folks here seem to have a keen sense for spotting

It's hard to be a winner and come across as humble. One thing about
it though is Sharx35 probably does need people praying for
him...myself I got better things to do.
Suspect managed to get a few nicks right off the bat and Sharx35
seeing the blood went right in after the new fish, so to speak.

Nah, more like a big tree filled with Grackles over a Zon Gun Propane Canon
http://www.birdbusters.com/scare_bird_canon.html
or similar that's set for intermittent detonation.
Gun goes off, Grackles all shit and disperse for a few minutes and then
settle back in nervously twittering and settling back to complacency and
then...
*BANG*
Grackles got really short term memory. Slow learners and fast fergitters.
Thas why they ain't normally domesticated for draft animals.

Hmm, Joseph, now I'm worse than ever - over here the figure/letter '#' is a
'hash' and is used in place of other letters usually f#####g - so I assume
you're the f###g 1 suspect - now you tell me you're the head 1 suspect - so
tell me does that mean people suspect you of giving head once, giving one
head, or suspecting others of giving one head.

This looks good for Grackles, but to pricey for moi. Any ideas for my

You are both right. And I am pretty good at spotting b.s. and people who
take themselves too seriously also. It has been a full time spotting job
here lately. And I have found some wonderful little pearls of info to
enhance my program and share with my readers. I guess I now know just how
many slimy oysters one has to look through to find that magnificent pearl.

You are welcome to interpret it any way you like. Personally, I don't have
the time or inclination to learn all of your little ng "code." And I have
not noticed anyone using "hash" marks to replace letters in this ng. Most
just spell out the word, letter by letter and let the chips fall where ever
they fall. I also don't create words or try to write in dialects. I just
stick to the good old King's English and the rules of grammar as best I can
remember them. If that offends, sorry. It's not likely to change in your
lifetime.
My writing is pretty clear and if you have trouble figuring out what I am
saying, then get a dictionary, thesaurus and a grammar book. I just do not
plan to ruin my writing any more than I already have just to fit into a
newsgroup. Especially when I see what is crapped out on these lines.
Besides, the hash symbol has meant "number" when preceding a numeral long
before you, me, the computer or the internet were ever thought of.

Well you don't appear to be a champion of humility yourself. You remind me
of a little spoiled brat. A new kid moves on the block and he won't play by
your stupid, useless rules that only exist in someone's mind somewhere. So
you whine and whine every time you see him. Want to talk about a cult, you
act like this ng is one.
What you don't understand is that it just does not matter. I am not out to
hurt anyone. I just want to post my posts, let the readers who benefits from
them get what they can and SCREW the rest of you. You are not here for
sobriety or recovery. I am. So let me do my thing and just ignore my
threads. But you can't do that, can you, because you are too petty. You need
something to XXXXX and bellyache about. Well, get over it. You know how to
KF, right. Then do it! And shut up in the mean time. Only that will not
allow you to play your game, so you keep reading just so you can keep
putting me down. What a pathetic life you must have. But you are not alone.
There is plenty of company around her for you.
So don't bother me. If you don't like what I do --- don't read it. And leave
my humility out of it. You are not the one to be judging humility in anyone.
When you clean up your side of the street, then I might invite you to take
my inventory. But so far, I have not invited you to do so. And your side of
the street appears to be a real mess. And I'll stay out of your posts with
putdowns and negativity if you ever have one that is not just a putdown of
someone else's writing. What ever you want to say, start a thread and say
it. Just get out of my face. You are a bore. You are judgmental and from
what I have read, you are totally off base and over the line most of the
time. Take care of your own character defects and I will guarantee you that
you will not have time to worry about mine or anyone else's. I just don't
think God died and left you in charge.

Actually, he did. We have the Chronicles of Zuba in a safe deposit box

Well excuse me for existing and daring to attempt to interject humour or a
bit of difference into your perfect life. You have gone out of your way to

...it ALSO stands for 'pound'
When a pound is called a "unit of weight", it is usually a unit of mass.
This is ALWAYS true for the term net weight.
Pounds are ALSO used for the force definitions of weight, in which the pound
force is a unit of force equal to 4.448 newtons. That is the force due to
gravity of a pound (avoirdupois) where the acceleration of gravity is
32.17405 ft/s². The troy units of weight are NEVER units of force.
Pounds-force are never used for net weight, nor are they used for body
weight in the medicial sciences, in zoology, or in sports.
If neither "avoirdupois" nor "troy" is specified, the international pound
(avoirdupois) is meant and is by law the only proper definition in the
United States, United Kingdom, and Canada; the troy pound has been
officially abandoned in the United Kingdom. The valuation of precious
metals on U.S. exchanges is specified as dollars per troy ounce, although
the fact that the troy ounce is used is usually IMPLIED.
In the context of vegetable and meat sales within metric countries, a metric
pound (500 g) is usually implied.
Historically, the pound predates the understanding of the distinction
between force and mass. Once that distinction became CLEAR, it was natural
to ask whether the pound should be construed as a unit of mass, or a unit
of force (and weight, which is defined as the gravitational force acting on
an object). But because the foot-pound-second systems are no longer used in
science (and are gradually approaching extinction even in U.S. engineering
work), many scientists today would be as BEMUSED by this question as by the
question of whether the shekel is a unit of mass or of force.

Thanks for posting that. I know more now than before reading it.

....And you write, as I understand, an AA based newspaper? Hmm.
The various "styles," of writing I've read in this NG since 1994 has
been varied in the extreme, sometimes stopping me in my tracks
with the originality used which sometimes broke all "correct"
presumptions. Your comment seems unduly dismissive and lofty.
Would you, for example, not read Joyce's "Ullyssis," because he
lefet out all the darned literary pronunciation marks?
Same thing Dude.

That's a filthy lie. I possess the TRUE "Last Will and Testament of God,"
where it clearly states that I, Philip, (the good,) are to be left in charge.

Some people have amazing powers of perception Kai.
We should look to them for their guidance.
And their kindness towards others.
And their humility.
