Kai said (full text above): "Do 5000 scientists, including 48 Nobel
Laureates and 62 National Medal of
Science recipients sound more plausible to you?"

Fred said (full text above): " Much more." By this Fred meant, the 5000
scientists sounded much more plausible than the claims of the "WORLD VOTE"
website. Fred examined the way the survey was taken, and therefore believes
this survey is scientifically flawed. In other words, this survey looks
scientific, but really it is not. It is pseudoscience.

Kai referred Fred to
http://www.ucsusa.org/global_enviro...rsi/index.cfm., which is sponsored
by the Union of Concerned Scientists (UCS). Fred checked them out, and
concluded this group is indeed based on scientific principles, and are quite
a believable group. In other words, this group also looks scientific, but
unlike the "WORLD VOTE" website, these folks really are using scientific
methods as a basis of their conclusions.

Fred feels, but did not explicitly say, that many people can not distinguish
between real science, and phony, pseudoscience. Therefore he compared and
contrasted the two, and included examples of each in parenthesis:
There's pseudoscience (astrology, the betavote survey, etc), and there's
real science (astronomy, UCS, etc.).
Here Fred is indicating that astrology and the WORLD VOTE betavote survey
are examples of fake, pseudoscience. And in contradistinction, Fred
indicates that astronomy and the UCS group are examples of real science.

Fred admires real science, and despises pseudo science because of it's power
to mislead people into drawing false conclusions. Therefore, Fred feels it
is everyone's civic duty to point out and expose sham pseudoscience whenever
it rears it's ugly head. In fact, Fred delights in doing so.

As so often happens to anyone calmly, clearly speaking truth with reason,
Fred was attacked by a prejudiced and highly biased malcontent who didn't
bother to read what Fred actually said. The irony is, Fred was in total
agreement with Kai, but Kai was too self-blinded to see it.

LIEbrawls like Kai often strike out blindly, even at their supporters. It is
their nature. They REACT, they do not RESPOND.

I guess I'd rephrase the above if I were to voice it, and I guess In
doing so, I am voicing it, I'd say..

It often happens that someone speaking what they perceive to be truth,
or for that matter even opinion, reasonably and calmly, winds up being
attacked or turned upon by someone not bothering to listen or trying to
understand what they are actually saying. It's ironic that often the
person being turned upon or attacked is within total agreement, or at
least neutral toward or with the attacker.

I've voiced this a few times in the past few years. It amazes me how
many people I've had long term associations with who had always seemed
like nice enough people, conversational, friendly, fun to be around,
kind of seeming all around good guys who seemed to go through a total
turn of personality with the turn of the century and the events
surrounding it.

I really can only speak for about five or six years prior to the turn of
the century due to my being so damn self absorbed and juvenile in my own
attitude prior to "Sometime Summer 95" and most of the time being off in
my own "School Yard" mentality and maturity level of "if you don't love
me, I'm gonna hate you."

I managed to pretty well stay out of the what was termed "Politics of
Personal Destruction" and what was appearing to get pretty down and
dirty character assignations going on around me during the last half of
the decade by staying nearly neutral in the fiasco of the last five
years of the decade leading up to 2000, and kept a kind of grin and bear
it, humorous approach, and consequently was never turned on or against
too viciously from either side nor lost any friends or associates due to
being kind of neutral and non committal.

Lot of people I don't associate with too much any longer and haven't too
much since the century turned and the events that transpired in the
first year or so of it took place. Not too much based on disagreement or
difference of viewpoints and I don't feel I turned away from them or
became overly condemning of them or even said anything personal or
derogatory about them or gave them cause to drift away.

But a lot of them have. Seemingly, simply because I have not joined in
lock, stock and barrel with them in getting out and up, beating an out
of tune tympani and shouting off key or color slogans and personal
insults at what they see and seem to be obsessed with as the cause of
their agony, plight, misfortune, failures, or lack or inability to get
what they seemingly think they are deserving of in the arena of "way,
pay, or say or prestige."

I've heard a lot of them voice what appear to be unsubstantuated,
downright dirty innuendos and slurs on the characters, ethics,
principles, values, or even qualifications or rights to be a part of
this country of anyone adhering or even seeming or seen by virtue of
their silence to the "You're either with us or against us" in vogue
philosophy.

I've pissed off some people seemingly by speaking up about my dislike
of being categorized, stereotyped, and wrapped up in a neat little
package to fit into their internal frames of references. Almost
ostracized because I haven't started wearing my britches backward, shirt
wrong side out, shoes on the wrong feet and walk around flailing and
wailing about anything or anyone even suggesting to be to the right of
midnight.

I realize there are people in the world who are seeming incapable of
developing any principles, values, ethics or etc. of their own and can't
mature past the place of going along with whoever or whatever is trendy
on the schoolyard at one given time and simply follow along or go which
ever the winds of time blow them and go with the vogue or just go along
to get along, or whose minds and arms or of insufficient size and length
to get a hold on or around the sizes of the issues which brought about a
current situation like having to place restrictions on activity period
due to abuses by a few or even in some cases by a callous disregard,
complacency or lack of respect for some simple rules of decency,
respect, consideration or "Universal Ethical Principle" and "Positive
Regard" for fellows or other segments of society on the part of the
whole, that caused a situation to decay to the point where the previous
administration was forced out, or it's tenure expired and required
replacement by a new administrator, like a principle or teacher who
simply started enforcing a lot of rules and conventions already in place
to thwart a downward spiral to total chaos.

Kind of like the tail rebelling and trying to lash the dog's tongue to
death 'cause it's sometime licking chapped lips and nose instead of
lubricating XXXXXXX.

Actually though even though this may seem like just another one of an
old farts rambling rants, the whole sum total experience has caused me
to do some real serious soul searching and looking at my life and coming
to realize how long I lived and how many years I wasted being of a sort
that really had never developed a foundation of my own, was completely
rootless and stood for nothing of substance other than self and was
simply cowardly enough to allow myself to be coerced, bullied or blown
about and along so I would be seemingly liked and accepted by which ever
crowd was loudest and seeming most praising and solicitous of me.

Just tag along, throw a tantrum and tear into or turn against...

Guess to sum it up like I've said a number of times, "using up those who
loved me and loving up to those who used me."

I mean after all, what drunk or adolescent can resist being a part of...

"The In Crowd"

Sheesh! A three day marathon of spooky movies on TV, I'll get a reprieve
Monday due to having to get my XXX out and discharge some
responsibilities and then comes Tuesday and I'm afraid the viewing and
reading fare is going to be even more horrifying and frightening the
rest of next month. ;-)

Trying to remember what I did and said last summer just to be on the
safe side. ;-)

Hymenoptera, Apoidea,
I wanna be,
And free,
But still accepted by the colony.
And feel there is a place for me.
A solitary bee.
