The White House denies this conversation took place. I find that more
credible than Pat Robinson. Bush often says idiotic things, but c'mon
Rosie, the above is beyond credibility.

Beyond credibility? Maybe by your criteria for credibility. Seems easy
to push the cognitive dissonance button. Think about it. Go back to
the other quotes: "XXXX Saddam" "He's outta there" "Mission
Accomplished" "Shock and Awe." So we have that mind set established,
and Robertson who is a supporter and confidant of Bush on one hand and
the Karen Hughs, Scott McClellan et al. spin factory on the other.

No brainer IMO. This ain't a first, its a recurring theme. Do you
remember the term "Mayberry Machiavelli's"?

Tell rosie that GWB XXXXed a goat at the Lincoln Memorial and she'll
believe it. And Frank will tell you that the corporate owned media are
suppressing the story.

Believe Rupert. He has an excellent plan for all of us in the supply

Why are you changing the subject? The subject was not Bush's 'mind set', or
a 'recurring theme', but Pat Robinson's claim that Bush said "Oh, no, we're
not going to have any casualties." Consider the source, the motivation, and
the timing please. No brainer IMO either.

Well, there you go again, changing the subject. But yes, if by 'his mind
set' you meant Robinson's, and 'has nothing to do with what he might have
said' you meant Bush, we agree.

One reason I engage in these seemingly pointless debates, especially early
in the morning, is that the astoundingly specious replies really get my
adrenaline pumped up, which gets me in the mood for a long bike ride. This
morning, "MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!"

Considering the source, the motivation, and the timing, what we
have here is a logical dilemma, Fred. One them clearly is
lying.

But, on the one hand: Why would Pat Robertson, a much admired
fundamentalist minister of God who know that liars burn in
eternal fire lie about a President he ardently supports?

And, on the other: Why would a politician in a neck-and-neck
race for re-election lie about something he wishes he hadn't
said?

It is just too close to call! ;-)

Mark gets "pumped up" also, but he just goes down and gets an O'Doul's.

Cognitive Dissonance revisited:

Cognitive dissonance is a psychological phenomenon which refers to the
discomfort felt (see adrenaline) at a discrepancy between what you
already know or believe, and new information or interpretation. It
therefore occurs when there is a need to accommodate new ideas.

Assimilation and Accommodation:

Assimilation and Accommodation are the two complementary processes of
Adaptation described by Piaget, through which awareness of the outside
world is internalized. Although one may predominate at any one moment,
they are inseparable and exist in a dialectical relationship.

In Assimilation, what is perceived in the outside world is incorporated
into the internal world without changing the structure of that internal
world, but potentially at the cost of "squeezing" the external
perceptions to fit — hence pigeon-holing and stereotyping.

If you are familiar with databases, you can think of it this way: your
mind has its database already built, with its fields and categories
already defined. If it comes across new information which fits into
those fields, it can assimilate it without any trouble.

Maybe nobody's lying. Pat Robertson probably heard him incorrectly. Nobody
else in attendance remembers it that way.

"The Lord told me it was going to be A, a disaster, and B, messy" -Pat
Robertson
Pat Robertson probably heard him incorrectly too. But, if this man is
credible, shouldn't we all forget about Bush or Kerry and vote for HIM?

Thank you doctor, for that astoundingly specious diagnosis! My mental
database does have fields defined to accomodate the ideas sometimes put
forth here, but they don't get past the referential integrity check!

That would be blasphemy. Robertson and Bush both know God has

I wonder if Bush remembers reading My Pet Goat while Rome burned?

The same intelligence (and I use that word very lightly) sources that
told him there were WMD, probably told him they would be in and out
like Flynn and there would be no casualties. Maybe Iraq is just a
little bit pregnant.

And you believe the White House? Don't forget that they lied about WMDs and
they can lie about this. Rember, Bushleague also said we are on a "modern

The White House denies this conversation took place. I find that more
credible than Pat Robinson. Bush often says idiotic things, but c'mon
Rosie, the above is beyond credibility.

Why are you changing the subject? The subject was not Bush's 'mind set', or
a 'recurring theme', but Pat Robinson's claim that Bush said "Oh, no, we're
not going to have any casualties." Consider the source, the motivation, and
the timing please. No brainer IMO either.

LOL, his mind set has nothing to do with what he might have said. Stay
