so..the elections are over...or are they?
here in my state, the governor's race rambles on.
One of the reasons I was so dissappointed in Kerry is that he conceded
the next morning, after declaring the night before, that he wouldn't
concede until ALL the votes were counted....then, he conceded.
Regardless of whether he could have gotten the Iowa votes --- I remain
firm in my belief that NO candidate should concede until every single
solitary valid ballot is counted ---- otherwise, it simply perpetuates
the already sad belief of most americans that their individual votes
don't count.
here in my state, their battling it out. --- the race was close, very
close. And after the initial counting, the Rep. was ahead. Then the
Dem. Candidate stated LOUDLY that ALL votes count. ballots were
discovered blahblahblah.....and 732 uncounted, previously declared
invalid ballots were re-looked at and 500+, were counted as
valid....putting the Democrat back in the lead by 100+ votes.
Even though the Rep. party kept calling for her to concede, she did
NOT give up, and stood by her belief that every vote counts --- that
makes me proud of her. Oh and sure, there will continue to be
wrangling between the two parties until some higher authoritative
entity yells STOP...but she took a stand, and required that every vote
count.....
