| My wife's trying to select 5 or 6 medical apps to put in her Palm PDA.
She's almost finished with her pediatric NP certificate, and is very
diagnosis-and-treatment oriented, as opposed to "nursing care." She's
an extremely serious, straight-A student, and loves to read any
advanced medical material she can get her hands on. She's probably read
Harrison's Internal Medicine twice, and her Merck Manual is so worn out
I need to buy her another one.
That being said, one decision is, which is better, especially for
pediatrics, the 5 Minute Consult for Pediatrics, or the Harriet Lane?
Does Harrison's Manual of Medicine compete with these, or is it
different?
She's also very interested in immunology and infectious diseases, so
we're thinking "The Red Book" would be a good choice, also. But how
good are its pediatric applications?
Beyond that, a good drug guide and also a good lab test guide.
Suggestions for both of these would be welcome. Again, its pediatric
content is most important. There are also apps out there that are
dosage guides, and drug interaction guides. Are these worth the $$$, or
are they redundant with all this other stuff?
She's planning to get everything from Skyscape, as they advertise that
all of their software cross-indexes with each other, although we don't
know just what form this "cross-indexing" takes. Is it really some
cool feature, or just advertising hype?
I apologize for asking so many questions, but she's really in the dark
on these applications. There's virtually nothing out there in the way
of reviews, and of course the advertising is worthless. Any direction
or comments would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Ron M.
