What's wrong with my hip/back?

| Hi, i'm a 22 year old male, very athletic and active but I've been
suffering from these almost paralyzing pains for about two years now
that kind of start from my very low back and it radiates down mostly
the right side of my butt and down the outside of my leg but not passed
my knee to my toes. It also sometimes hurts the left side of my butt
too. I also sometimes feel a very sharp pain right in the middle of my
groin, in that case it's impossible for me to move side to side when i
play soccer.
I've been to the doctors several times but all they do is prescribe
different drugs like Naproxen, Darvon, arthrotec 75 and so on. I'm
tired of living with this pain and I know these drugs won't cure me, i
just want to find what the heck is really wrong. I once did an X-ray
but I guess nothing showed up. I read many articles on this type of
pain. My doctors just say I have sciatica but sciatica really isn't the
problem, it's a symptom of the real problem i've read.
I just want to know what the real problem is, if there are any self
diagnosis tips that might help me or if anyone has any tips on
alleviating the pain is much appreciated.
ps. I was wondering if I can just ask my docter for an MRI examination,
i'm sure an MRI would help further in finding out what is wrong.
thank you very much.

| I would definitely ask for the MRI. Did they ever offer an epidural
injection? They usualy will do series of three of these within a year. I
would go to an orthopedist or neurologist. I have gotten the epidurals
before and friend had no luck with this but then went to neurologist who
looked at same films and found small tumor which he removed and she is now
fine. Whatever it is, at your age I would pursue it to find out for sure.
Good luck!

| hello
the thing is find out why are the problems persisting
is it in the way you walk
your style of walking maybe wrong
anyway i suggest you go for an MRI scan immediately to find out the root cause of the problem
