My wife (34 years old) has a very painful joint which she has now had for a
year. She has had blood tests, biopsy, ultra sound and x-rays but no
definite diagnosis here in London, UK. She is now in bad pain and is
desperate for a diagnosis so she can be put right. The dr's say they have
never seen such a case of inflammation in a single joint.

All advice appreciated.

My sister had a similar problem because as a nurse she is on her feet
all day. She was prescribed a brace to keep her foot in the right
position to alleviate tendonitis that was causing her foot to collapse.

I have a similar ankle. I had a talar dome fracture and had it scoped.
I take Alieve, and the standard joint supplements, chondrotin, etc. I
have found that exercise including riding bike, walking, doing calf
exercises in the gym etc. really help. When I don't do the exercise, it
really hurts. Also, try to sit with the foot elevates as much as
possible.

If your wife is heavy, losing wieght may also help. Just my 2 cents.
