Greetings - I have severe RA and after 5 limb surgeries and 20 years of
damage, I am considering getting a motorized wheelchair or scooter that
would be the most manageable. I want to use it outdoors. I would
appreciate any recommendations. Thanks

I have a Power Chair and I received mine from the Scooter Store. They
are wonderful. They will come to your home when you are approved and
show you how to use your power chair or scooter............they do not
rush through anything.......they stay as long as it takes until you are
comfortable.....I would suggest to give them a call or go to their site.

understand that, if you are looking for your insurance to cover part of the
cost (only state medicaid covers 100%) you must have a valid need 'in the
home' - outdoor use is not a covered benefit.

that doesn't mean you can't use it outdoors, only that if you use
'outdoors' as an issue in your claim, you will get rejected.

also, keep in mind that should you be approved as needing it in your home,
outdoor usage and the attendant extra wear might become an issue for
maintenance - excessive use is not covered. - particularly grass/dirt
trails that would give a beating to the chair.

also, if approved for the power chair, your insurance will no longer cover
any costs for a manual chair.

so, need it in the home and mum about outdoors.
