I was in San Francisco around Mission and Market and as I walked past
the Goodwill store some lady with a bunch of junk walks out and
informs the nearest passer-by how poorly that store treats disabled
people like herself. Then we got on the bus and although I was in
the back I could hear her carrying on about her disability, then she
proceeded to start hollering about someone who coughed or something
and demanded to know if it was contagious because she had some sort
of autoimmune disease. She even covered her mouth with a cloth or
mask and more than one of us giggled and she just went off on a
rant about how we were making fun of disabled people, that for some
reason the ordinary germs we all must deal with can kill her, yet
she still chose to get on a public bus in a city known for harboring
some of the most exotic viruses on earth.

She should have stayed in her bubble; she wasn't so concerned about
germs that she couldn't uncover her mouth and holler at all of us
for laughing at her. We laughed some more then she begin ranting on
about Asian Bird Flu and how we were all going to catch it and then
we would know what it was like to be disabled like her. Then she
cursed us with it and damned us all to hell before getting off the
bus (the driver practically had to push her out the door), and she
was still yelling at us as the bus drove off.

My guess is that she is a hypochondriac, sort of a Munchausen freak
who loves to call attention to herself by imagining herself as
suffering from some exotic disability like autoimmune disorder. If
she really had something that made her so susceptible to common
germs then she would be dead already. I even see obvious AIDS
patients on the bus and they don't drop dead even though there might
be tourists from Vietnam to Africa shedding everything from H5N1 to
Ebola to Norfolk to SARS as they hold on to the same grip bars she's
touching.
