| Orange,
Although, I am gay, I am far from being an AIDS activities. I am more a
civil libertarian. While agree that there are some financial motivators
to explain the behaviours of certain segments of society (doctors and
such) that isn't an explanation of why the average citizen is still
content to watch us become infected and die.
I would never deny someone who has been infected access to the best
medical care and opportunites to lead a happy life. Where I draw the
line is consistent with the laws of the land. No one has the right to
kill. And even if I were to agree to sex with someone who is HIV
positive, it is against the law from him and me to consent to my own
suicide. Anyone who feels it acceptable to kill me (even with the use
of this virus) needs to feel the full weight of the law.
George's perspective is obscene. I've dealth with stigma. Who cares if
I am stigmatized more. People who will willingly disregard my right to
live have legal consequences. Denying gays the same application of law
is hypocrisy at best and murder at worst.
