Greetings,

Although I have been in the public health field for many years, I am
not familiar with the public health or social or international programs
available for patients with HIV and that is why I am contacting you.

A public interest lawyer friend of mine has been undergoing an arduous
process of trying to bring his bride from an Eastern Block country ( I
think Estonia) to the US so he can marry her and have her live with him
in the US.

But during the mandatory medical examination, this lady tested positive
serology for HIV.

My friend is negative and very upset since this issue has stalled the
immigration procedure unless he obtains medical insurance for her. The
US Immigration policy to bring a bride to the US is hard enough but
imagine now with this recent discovery, INS is making it almost
impossible.

Can you help me help him?

His questions are:
1. Is there any resources or programs that enable a person like his
bride fulfill her dream of coming to America even if she has HIV? She
has never been to the US and would love to visit the US.

2. Is there an organization that can help provide medical insurance at
low cost or subsidized cost for her while she is in the US, even if its
in a temporary basis? My friend is a public interest attorney and will
try to pay as much as he can but I am afraid that the insurance can be
staggering.

3. Do you know of any leads that I can contact to see if my friend can
obtain any hopes of bringing his love here?

I really want to help my friend and I did not know where else to ask.

I appreciate any leads you can help me.

Warm Regards,

Death

A guest in a mental institution doesn't count.

Besides haven't you heard, there is no such thing as aids.

If she is on an aids medication tell her to take smaller doses.

If she isn't on meds, blame Bush.

If she wants them but can't afford them, blame the drug companies.

Either way she is XXXXed.

Perhaps you wanted an answer from a democrat.
