Gas, an embarrassing dilemma
|
|
|
| Hi,
I was diagnosed about 4 months ago. My Ac1 was 11.0. At my last visit 2
weeks ago, I was at 6.9, which was good according to my doctor. We had
discussed putting me on Byetta, which he did. I have not had any nausea,
and am taking 5mg a day, which will eventually be increased to 10, and
hopefully I will be able to stop the pills I take.
However, in the last week, I have developed gas. At first I thought it was
just indigestion, or something I ate, but now I am wondering. Is this one
of the symptoms that may or may not go away? Is there anything I can do to
lessen this? I did buy some beano today, in hopes that will resolve this.
The gas gets trapped in my upper body, and it scares me until I realize that
it is gas. The burping and such is not pleasant.

Gas and other digestive upsets are, unfortunately, side effects of
several diabetic medications, including metformin. The effect usually
goes away with time.
